Genetically Modified Organisms, commonly known as GMOs, are found in most of the food in the United States. Up to 88% of corn, 90% of cotton and 94% of soy beans are grown from genetically modified crops.

There are numerous benefits to the usage of GMOs such as creating plants resistant to pests, herbicide and drought. However, a number of studies have linked GMOs to health problems such as cancer or allergies but more importantly, we have not been using them for long enough to know their effects on health, environment or insects.

Community colleges are an essential part of San Diego's success as a city. Students either earn career and technical certification or transition into a university. Bernie Rhinerson believes it is the job of the community colleges and its board of trustees to secure the connections between the education provided and the students' next step.

DOJ Bank of America Lawsuit

Bank of America has been sued in Federal Court by the Department of Justice for business practices that occurred in Countrywide. Countrywide was purchased in 2008 by Bank of America shortly before the housing bubble burst; prior to their purchase Countrywide was the largest mortgage provider in the US.
