(TEXAS) - Last week, the Texas House passed a bill that would have the government pay for partisan primaries directly, instead of reimbursing the parties for their expanses (HB 3065). In most states, the government administers and pays for the costs of holding partisan primary elections.  However, in Texas, the parties administer their own primaries, then they get reimbursed from the state for their expenses.

Calbuzz covered much of the infighting going on in the California Democratic Party as a result of the new top-two primary. Only a short few months ago, the popular sentiment on California's political street was that "top-two primary didn't change anything."

Immigration reform and drones are among the most highly discussed issues in the country. For states bordering Mexico, the two issues are becoming one.

Last year, Twitter hit a benchmark in its quest to the top of the social ladder, boasting over 200 million active users on the social network. What remains less clear, however, is where these users are located and to what extent, if any, does Twitter dictate the discourse of the mainstream media.

While the Obama administration looks to expand financial aid opportunities to students of gay or unmarried parents, questions remain as to whether recent changes will further hurt the ability of many students to get the most aid for college.
