Governor Jerry Brown made clear his firm stance on a new education funding formula by saying he'll "fight any effort to dilute the bill." What Brown is referring to is the local control funding formula (LCFF). His revised budget shows that he has kept his word, so far.

A liberal friend of mine told me last night he was disturbed by the Benghazi coverup but not as much by the IRS fiasco. He certainly believed it was bad, and the "explanation" it was low-level people didn't wash with him (funny how the guys who always profess to be for the "little guy" are the first to throw them under the bus). So when I asked him why it didn't bother him that much, he said it was because all Administrations do it- targeting the enemy comes with winning the election. True and cynical. BUT

I'd like to be discussing global warming.

(TEXAS) - Last week, the Texas House passed a bill that would have the government pay for partisan primaries directly, instead of reimbursing the parties for their expanses (HB 3065). In most states, the government administers and pays for the costs of holding partisan primary elections.  However, in Texas, the parties administer their own primaries, then they get reimbursed from the state for their expenses.

Calbuzz covered much of the infighting going on in the California Democratic Party as a result of the new top-two primary. Only a short few months ago, the popular sentiment on California's political street was that "top-two primary didn't change anything."

Immigration reform and drones are among the most highly discussed issues in the country. For states bordering Mexico, the two issues are becoming one.
