On a day when much of the media is talking about governmental surveillance and abuse, Senator Rand Paul introduced the Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act of 2013. If passed, the act would protect civilians against unwarranted govenrment intrusion through the use of drone technology.

Florida Independent Voting.Org’s (FIV) BLOG on Florida legislation benefited greatly from the civil, thoughtful and well-reasoned comments and responses to each other.  It’s a joy to read comments from people with a brain that can express themselves with logic rather than anger and rote ideologies.  Thanks very much!  When the FIV movement began, we all had reservations and ideas to “make it better”.  The following comments are offered as additional food for thought.  Let’s keep the dialogue going!

I was ready to ask what became of Kim Jong Il and the North Korean threat when he made the news for one day by firing off a couple of missiles.  I thought his nuclear threat was a serious, imminent danger.  I've already begun my doomsday prepping!  (A suitcase full of water and $60 cash, I'm doomed.)

Representative Darrell Issa made headlines this week after spearheading the investigations into the Benghazi attack on September 11, 2012, and "slamming" IRS Inspector General J. Russell George. A lesser known project the chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is working on, however, is the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA Act), which the committee quietly released a discussion draft earlier this month.

M2In the last Congress H.R. 2306 was co-sponsored by Barney Frank and Ron Paul. It would have ended the federal marijuana prohibition leaving it to the States to decide whether its use was good or bad for their citizens. But, as most bills do—it died in committee.
