The Texas House approved a bill Saturday that eliminates straight-ticket voting, which allows voters to choose a party's entire slate of candidates in a single ballot marking. Texas will likely become the second state in 2017 to eliminate straight-ticket voting, following Iowa.

Reports released Friday morning that Swedish prosecutors have discontinued an investigation into rape allegations against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London since August 2012 to avoid extradition. At 6:04 am PDT, Assange tweeted his own statement:

U.S. Reps. Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) introduced a House Joint Resolution Thursday that proposes a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress.

The proposed amendment would limit members of the U.S. Senate to two terms and members of the House to 6 terms. In other words, no senator or representative would be able to hold on to their seat longer than 12 years.
