Mass voter confusion. Voter purges. Registration problems. These were all major problems associated with the 2016 New York presidential primary. State lawmakers have an opportunity to fix these issues, but are they? Are they listening to voters' complaints?

It doesn't look like it.

In what many are hailing as a positive step toward helping American families balance their responsibilities of work and family, President Trump is proposing six weeks of paid time off to both mothers and fathers at the time of birth (or adoption) of a child.

“For the first time ever, by any administration of any party, we are proposing a nationwide paid parental leave program,” budget director Mick Mulvaney told reporters this week.

AUGUSTA, MAINE – Last November, Ranked Choice Voting was approved by the second largest referendum vote of the people in Maine’s history. Maine people believe that our system is broken. Ranked Choice Voting is a critical solution to give more voice and more choice to voters in our elections and in our democracy.

The Maine Supreme Court released its advisory opinion on the constitutionality of ranked choice voting Tuesday. On the question of whether or not the alternative voting method violates the plurality clause in the Maine Constitution, the justices ruled in the affirmative.

The California Business Roundtable responded to a legislative analysis Monday that said SB 562, a single-payer health care bill by Sens. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens) and Toni Atkins (D-San Diego), will cost California $400 billion annually to implement. CBRT President Rob Lapsley says "there is no responsible way to pay for this proposal."

There has been a lot buzz in Washington lately over the new leaks coming out of the Trump administration, as well as the ongoing investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. However, a recent story that has gone largely unreported could potentially have rather large implications concerning the election results this past November, more so than Russian interferences.

Over the weekend, President Trump and Saudi King Salman signed several deals regarding military and economic partnerships between the two countries. This includes a $110 billion investment deal as well as another $350 billion over the next 10 years.
