Appeals Court Rules Defense of Marriage Act Unconstitutional

A federal appeals court in Boston struck down the Defense of Marriage Act today on the grounds that denying federal benefits to same-sex couples is unconstitutional.

The court was made up of a majority of conservative appointees.
