In a report released last week, California’s Legislative Analyst’s Office found that the state is facing budget gap of $1.9 billion for the fiscal year 2013-2014, but will likely see a budget surplus in California after 2014.

On Thursday, November 16, the nonprofit San Diego County Bicycle Coalition (SDCBC) congratulated outgoing Mayor Jerry Sanders for tapping DECOBIKE as the city's 2013 operational bike sharing program.

On Thursday, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the Michigan ban on affirmative action was unconstitutional. This decision contradicts the 9th Circuit's decision to uphold the California ban, demonstrating a Supreme Court decision on affirmative action is needed more than ever.

Clem's Tap house is located in the Kensington area, and has remained family owned and operated since 1987. Clem, who the original owner, began the shop back in 1970 until it was taken over by the Kasawdish family in 1987. Mr. Kasawdish saw Clem's as a great business opportunity, and felt Kensington was a well respected neighborhood and perfect for this business model.

States will have now until December 14th to decide if they want to have a state run health insurance exchange or not. This extended deadline comes from the fact that many states have simply not yet made their decision.

University of California, San Diego celebrated the investiture of its eighth chancellor, Mr. Pradeep K. Khosla. The event took place on Nov. 16 for UCSD Founders' Day. President of the University of California system Mark Yudof was in attendance and introduced Chancellor Khosla.
