(California) - No one expected a race in California's 33rd Congressional district. The area holds a demanding Democratic registration advantage and has been represented for 20 years by a well-known and prominent Democratic Congressman, Henry Waxman.

In a very close race, Jim Matheson snuck out a win over Mia Love, grabbing 108,275 votes the her 105,629. Love had been the strong favorite leading into the race, but in a surprising turn the race went to Matheson.

Carrying the key battleground state of Ohio, President Barack Obama has secured reelection to a second term in office, several news networks projected Tuesday evening.
