President Obama is expected to announce today at 11:50am EST, an initiative for a one year expansion of the Bush Tax cuts to families making less than $250,000 a year. The dynamic between the President, Democratic leadership and Republican opponents is one to watch this month as momentum builds towards a vote on taxes. Without action, the Bush Tax cuts will expire in their entirety on January 1st.

A Gallup poll released on Friday shows a tepid response by likely voters to third-party candidates. Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson comes in with 3%, for the best showing. Majority of voters intend on casting their ballots in favor of Mitt Romney or President Obama.

Many conservative politicians – but far fewer conservative constitutional scholars – are endorsing the views of the dissenters in the recent Supreme Court decision on the Affordable Care Act. Much as they may dislike the statute, they should think twice about what kind of judges they want on the bench.
