Looking at Twitter today, I saw that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) is actually on Twitter. And I guess I knew that already, except that I really got to thinking about the intricacies of that association this morning while figuring out how to best help people at the local, individual level with their endeavors to produce and sell local food.
Friday, June 15th is California’s constitutional deadline to pass a balanced budget through both houses of the state legislature. According to Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, Democratic leaders are close to making a deal, and the final budget plan will head to the floor for a vote on Friday as scheduled.

The War on Drugs symbolically made it to President Obama's doorstep today, as David Bronner, CEO of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, was arrested after locking himself and twelve hemp plants in a steel cage in front of the White House. The businessman was protesting policies preventing the cultivation of industrial hemp plants.

After trailing Romney in fundraising, Obama’s re-election campaign has focused its attention on the Golden State for fundraising. The campaign has been pulling their largest amounts of funds from Hollywood and Silicon Valley.
