San Diego-By a vote of 4-0, the County Board of Supervisors instructed county staff to draw up an independent analysis of the Lilac Hills Ranch proposed development just north of Escondido along the I-15 corridor.

Supervisor Dianne Jacob made the motion to have county staff prepare the report.

It doesn't take long for political discussions on social media to turn negative. From vitriolic remarks, to hyperbolic statements, to name-calling, online political conversations tend to turn into a tit-for-tat verbal slug fest.

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego City Council voted to put the Chargers downtown stadium initiative and the Citizens’ Plan initiative on the November ballot.

By a unanimous vote of 9-0, the council passed both the Chargers Initiative (now Measure C) and the Citizens’ Plan for Tourism Reform (now Measure D).

Councilmember Chris Cate, who has been an outspoken critic of the plan, assigned himself to write the argument against the ballot initiative.

On July 14, congressional lawmakers introduced the Automatic Voter Registration Act of 2016, which would ensure that whenever a citizen interacts with the government, they are automatically registered to vote unless they choose to decline. The bill is being led by Representative Robert Brady (D-PA).

Last week, Donald Trump announced Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate. Prior to his service as governor, Pence represented the Hoosier State in the House of Representatives from 2001 to 2013.
