Social media was heavily utilized this weekend at the California Democratic Convention, even Rep. Barbara Lee shouted out to the enthusiastic crowd to Tweet, Facebook, blog, and email to victory this November. Some great shots and moments were caught by both the Independent Voter Network and other conference attendees. Explore below for the inside track.

Prior to the California Democratic Convention, the Armenian National Committee had criticized organizers for inviting Mr. Cenk Ugyer, Current TV program host and leader of The Young Turks, to speak.

A battle for the democratic endorsement in the new 30th Congressional District took place between Rep. Howard Berman and Rep. Brad Sherman, both who had lively groups of supporters throughout the weekend. Result? Neither met the 60% threshold for required for endorsement. Neither won the endorsement of the party.
At #cadem2012 Brad Sherman accused Howard Berman of being bought by big corporations. He was correct; no one cared.bit.ly/yA8pu1— Howie Klein (@downwithtyranny) February 12, 2012

Up against well-supported Betsy Butler, Torie Osborn attempted to garner the Democratic endorsement for the 50th Assembly District, even tried to take her efforts to the convention floor through the Party Endorsement Review Committee. However Butler, who has the support of Speaker Perez, walked away with the endorsement in what some are alleging was a fixed process. Osborn will continue to run in the 50th as an independent Democrat.
